The late George Mikan was the first true big man to ever compete in the NBA. The 6’ 10” center, nicknamed “Mr. Basketball,” led the then-Minneapolis Lakers to five league titles during his tenure. This lot features a specially engraved and uniquely designed electric clock that Mikan was awarded following the 1951-52 season, one in which he averaged 23.8 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. The gold-colored metallic clock, manufactured by the Jefferson Electric Company out of Bellwood, Illinois, stands nine inches tall and features a round glass face that stretches 7.5 inches in diameter. The base of the clock is engraved with the following text: “GEORGE MIKAN 1951-52 BASKETBALL AWARD SPORTS AND ATTRACTIONS COMMITTEE.” It comes complete with its original brown electric cord.

Acquired directly from Mikan estate. Includes LOA signed by George Mikan.
