The incomparable Derek Jeter, the now retired former team captain of the New York Yankees, played his last game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sept. 17, 2014, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. In the game, which the Yankees won, 3-2, Jeter went 1-for-4 and scored a run. This lot includes one of the game-used bases from that game, which is completely covered with dirt from Tropicana Field. Two sides of the base, which measures 15” wide by 15” high and 2.5” deep, include special “Rays vs. Yankees (Sept. 15-17, 2014)” nameplates that come complete with iconic “Derek Jeter 2 New York Captain Yankees” insignias incorporated. Its original in-the-ground metal post is still attached.
