From throwing to catching and fielding to batting America's Presidents have long enjoyed playing or watching a good game of baseball. A soldier's diary reveals that George Washington and his men played an early version of baseball called "rounders" on the fields of Valley Forge. History records that John Adams played bat and ball and Andrew Jackson played a similar game of baseball called one old cat. Abraham Lincoln's love of the game was so well known that an 1860 political cartoon showed Lincoln and his opponents on a baseball diamond. This fantastic lot of autographed baseballs have been signed by five U.S. Presidents and one presidential hopeful. George Bush Sr. signed in blue ink on an OAL Budig ball (PSA/DNA has detected signature removals throughout this ball). Bill Clinton signed in dark black sharpie on a Spalding Official League ball. The ball has some brown soiling throughout. Gerald Ford signed in blue ball point pen on an OAL Budig ball with a terrific cartoon doodle of Ford on the ball as well. Richard Nixon signed in blue sharpie on an ONL Giamatti ball. Jimmy Carter signed in black pen on a Worth Offical League baseball. New York Senator and perhaps presidential hopefull Hillary Clinton signed in dark blue ink on an OMLB Selig ball. LOA from PSA/DNA
