Prior to his NFL career with the New York Giants, Frank Gifford was a standout running back and receiver at USC from 1949 to ’51. In 1952, he was the 11th overall pick in the NFL Draft. This lot includes a National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame certificate that was awarded to Gifford upon his election on January 10, 1975. The award states: “Frank N. Gifford, USC Halfback 1949-51, has been granted the highest honors of the National Football Hall of Fame, in recognition of his outstanding playing ability as demonstrated in intercollegiate competition, his sportsmanship, integrity, character and contribution to the sport of football, this certificate bears witness that his name shall be forever honored in the National Football Hall of Fame.” The framed certificate measures 19” wide by 25” high and is signed by Fred Russell, former Chairman of the Honors Court of the National Football Hall of Fame and by Frank Gifford.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
