The La Canada Stakes is an annual thoroughbred race usually run during the second week of February at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. A Grade II event, the race is open to four-year-old fillies and mares willing to race 1 & 1/8 miles on dirt. Inaugurated in 1975, the race was initially contested at a distance of 1 & 1/16 miles. The race is part of Santa Anita Park's La Canada Series of races open to newly turning/turned 4-year old fillies and run at an increasing distance.

This lot features the beautiful trophy, produced by Tiffany & Co. that was awarded to the team of “Lady’s Secret” following the running of the 1986 event. Klein, Owner, D. Wayne Lukas, Trainer, Chris McCarron, Jockey, Time: 1:49:4.” The front of the two-handled trophy is engraved “LA CANADA STAKES” and those words are centered above the engraved logo of Santa Anita Park. The whole trophy including the weighs a little more than 10 pounds; the sterling silver cup alone weighs 1,130 grams. Some tarnishing is evident on the outside of the trophy cup as well as across the engraved plaque. Bottom of cup hallmarked "Sterling Silver" and "Tiffany's and Co."
