Athletic clubs dotted the states in the mid 1890's all the way through the early 20th century. With the founding of the AAU in the early 1890's many amateur sporting clubs began to form and compete against one another. These early sweaters are exceedingly rare and becoming more sought after by advanced football collectors. This rare roll neck football sweater is the largest we have ever seen. There is a period tag attached to the underside of the waist and contains the name A.M. Stimmers, Maryland. The blue and white sweater has the letters A.C. in grey across the front and is in NM condition.
