Eugene "Goo" Kennedy played one season (1970-71) of college basketball at Texas Christian University, and was named the Southwest Conference Player of the Year after leading the TCU Horned Frogs to the conference championship. After college, Kennedy played four seasons in the American Basketball Association as a member of the Dallas Chaparrals, San Antonio Spurs, Spirits of St. Louis, and Utah Stars. He then played one season in the National Basketball Association with the Houston Rockets where he averaged 8.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his professional career.

Eugene "Goo" Kennedy’s 1976 Houston Rockets game used jersey features the appropriate Sand Knit tagging on the front tail noting size “44” – Designed and Tailored Exclusively for the Houston Rockets. Across the front of the white mesh jersey is "Rockets" in red with the number 30 in red tackle twill. On the back is the player number 30 and the name “Kennedy” in red tackle twill. Excellent game wear is evident on this garment sourced directly from Kennedy himself.
