Erny Pinckert was a halfback at USC when the Trojans won the Rose Bowl in 1929 against Tulane University. A pair of double reverses by Pinckert produced touchdown runs that sealed the victory for USC. In 1931, with Pinckert in the backfield, USC again won the Rose Bowl, this time against the University of Pittsburgh. He was named All-America after both the 1930 and ‘31 seasons. This lot includes a National Football Hall of Fame certificate that was awarded to Pinckert upon his election on February 20, 1957, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The award states: “Erny Pinckert, USC All America Back 1930, has been granted the highest honors of the National Football Hall of Fame, in recognition of his outstanding playing ability as demonstrated in intercollegiate competition, his sportsmanship, integrity, character and contribution to the sport of football, this certificate bears witness that his name shall be forever honored in the National Football Hall of Fame.” The framed item measures 19” wide by 25” high and is signed by Bill Cunningham, Chairman of the Honors Court, National Football Hall of Fame.
