The NBA's all-time leader in points scored, blocked shots, and MVP awards (among a host of additional honors, Abdul-Jabbar had established himself as the game's most dominant figure long before he ever stepped onto an NBA floor. Lauded as an All-American at New York's Power Memorial High School, Jabbar (Lew Alcindor at the time) led his team to 71 straight wins and a 95-6 aggregate record during his prep career. For an encore, Jabbar paced a UCLA dynasty to three successive NCAA National Championships and an 88-2 overall record. His reputation preceding him, the 7'2" center went on to dominate in the NBA for 20 seasons.

Offered in this lot is an autographed Los Angeles Lakers home jersey worn by the Hall of Famer during the 'Showtime Era' of the team in the 1980s. The gold-colored mesh pullover garment features "LAKERS" across the chest in purple-on-white tackle twill, and the legend's since-retired number "33" is sewn into the front and back of the jersey. Centered on the tapered front tail, a "Tiernan" manufacturer's tag dates the jersey to the 1980s - a decade that saw Jabbar's Lakers capture no less than 5 NBA titles. Enhancing the keepsake's boundless value, Jabbar's black marker signature (signed "Abdul-Jabbar") decorates the upper front. The signature has somewhat dulled over time but still presents nicely. The jersey has received the highest-possible A10 grade from MEARS and is accompanied by an LOA from PSA/DNA and JSA.
