Once in a generation, a player comes along who can truly be called a “superstar.” Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird was one such player. For 13 seasons in Beantown – from 1979-80 through 1991-92 – Bird personified hustle, consistency and excellence in all areas of play: scorer, passer, rebounder, playmaker, defender and, perhaps above all else, as a clutch performer. Upon his arrival, Bird helped rebuild a Celtics franchise that had been suffering from substandard play and poor attendance in the late 1970s. With Bird as the focal point of a well-rounded squad, the Celtics won three NBA titles and 10 Atlantic Division crowns.

This lot features one of Larry Brid’s early 1980’s Boston Celtics game-worn green road jerseys. On the left tail of Bird's is the "Boston Celtics" exclusive "Medalist Sand-Knit" manufacturer’s label which includes the size (“44”). Across the front of the jersey is the team name "CELTICS" in white tackle twill letters while on the back is "BIRD” in like fashion. The player number "33" appears on both the front and back of the jersey, also in white tackle twill. Light use is evident throughout as all of the lettering and numbers show some form of fraying. Larry Legend was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998.
