In 1962, Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Don Drysdale posted a most memorable campaign. The 6’ 5” pitcher led the league in wins (25), strikeouts (232) and innings pitched (314.1). He also pitched 19 complete games and compiled an ERA of 2.83. And best of all, Drysdale locked down his only MLB Cy Young Award this season, five years before Major League Baseball started awarding Cy Young winners in both leagues! This lot features a beautifully crafted trophy awarded to Drysdale by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America on being named the Dodgers' “Player of the Year” that season. The 12” tall award sports a white marble base upon which sits a silver vase that has been engraved with the following text: “DON DRYSDALE LOS ANGELES DODGERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 1962.” Above the text is a raised green BBWAA emblem. The trophy weighs just over six pounds.

Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
