Gutteridge spent a lifetime in baseball as a player, coach, manager and scout. For 12 years he performed as a player in the big leagues, being both a member of the famed St. Louis Cardinals gas house gang in the 1930's and also for the St. Louis Browns in 1944 when they won their only American League pennant. He also played for the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates. He briefly managed the Chicago White Sox in 1969–1970. In his later years he became a scout, a position he held with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1975 through his retirement in 1992. Large real diamond at center of a baseball infield atop a Dodger blue stone surrounded by "LOS ANGELES DODGERS WORLD CHAMPIONS". "GUTTERIDGE", "LA", and the Dodger logo on one side with "1981" and a raised image of the World Series trophy on the other. Inside stamped "BALFOUR 10K". Ring size 10 1/2.
