This iconic fold-out cover for Sports Illustrated's College Basketball Preview edition in 1966 correctly predicted superstardom for college basketball newcomer, Lew Alcindor (later to change his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar).
Sports Illustrated had done some occasional fold out covers since they began publishing in 1954, but this was the first ever basketball fold out.
This was the first of many future SI covers for the sky-hooking phenom, but this issue ranks as a favorite and UCLA would go on to win the NCAA crown later that season, beating Dayton in the championship game.
CGC has rated this issue a strong 7.0, with a mere population of 2 in this grade and only 7 higher.
