The late, great Tony Gwynn was arguably the best pure hitter in baseball history. With eight National League batting titles to his credit and a career .338 average, Gwynn was an easy first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee into Cooperstown in 2007. In 20 MLB seasons, he never struck out more than 40 times in any one campaign. He was also a perennial All-Star selection, starting in the outfield in 15 Midsummer Classics.

Featured here is one of the bats "Mr. Padre" swung early in his career, circa 1984-86, as he was making a name for himself. Gwynn won his first batting title in 1984 and helped the Padres win the franchise's first NL pennant and advance to their first World Series. The Louisville Slugger Tony Gwynn professional model B267 bat is un-cracked with evidence of light use. Gwynn's player number ("19") is written on the knob and barrel ends in black marker. Includes ungraded LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA.
