Featured here is spectacular single signed baseball of the greatest American sportsman of all-time, Babe Ruth. The Sultan of Swat has blessed the sweet spot of this medium-toned Official American League William Harridge baseball in striking blue ink that measures 7-8/10 in our book. If the ball were in better condition, this example would rank up there among the best examples in the market. Perfectly centered on the sweet spot, each letter flows together beautifully. A tad of faintness in the loop of the 'R' is the only thing that prevented us from submitting the ball for an auto grade. The light brown toning of the ball is relatively even throughout each panel. Due to the combination of this toning and some significant white scuffing over the label, the manufacturer stampings have completely worn off. Though when evaluating any Ruth single, the most important aspect is always the autograph itself.

The ball has an interesting background as well. Our consignor was a young boy when he attended a Chicago White Sox game at Old Comiskey Park in 1937 with some of his American Legion teammates. There was a promotion before the game inviting young ballplayers onto the field. Babe Ruth, who had retired two years earlier and was attending the game as an MLB ambassador, went on the field and shook the hands of these young American Legion players, including our consignor. He signed baseballs for several players and this is the one our consignor received. It has never before been offered publicly. Includes letter of provenance and full LOA from PSA/DNA (Certification #: AH06036).
