In the late 1920s, after more than a decade of fielding miserable last place ballclubs, Connie Mack began building one of the strongest dynasties in big league history. Mack’s A’s beat back the mighty Yankees and won American League pennants in three consecutive years, 1929-31 and won back-to-back World Championships in 1929 and 1930. Of these teams, the 1930 edition may have been the best of the bunch. Besides the superb pitching of Lefty Gomez and George Earnshaw, the A’s fielded a lineup of sluggers that made the Yankees jealous. Foremost among them was Hall of Famer Al Simmons who hit a remarkable .381 with 36 home runs. This Reach Official American League ball collects 11 members of the World Champion 1930 A’s including Hall of Famers Connie Mack, Eddie Collins and Al Simmons plus Bing Miller, Joe Boley, Homer Summa, Charlie Perkins, Dib Williams, Jim Moore, Pinky Higgins, and Max Bishop. The ball shows overall toning from age with some fading to several of the signatures, however, Hall of Famers Al Simmons, Eddie Collins, and Al Simmons are among the stronger examples. A very displayable ball featuring three key Hall of Famers and a supporting cast of players that made the 1930 Athletics one of the greatest teams of all-time. The ball comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA for the signature authenticity.
