Truly beautiful original photograph of Hall of Fame catcher Ray Schalk captured by notable photographer Paul Thompson circa 1910-19. The close-up 6½" by 8½" portrait captures a smiling Schalk in his Chicago White Sox cap and uniform. Known as an honest, hard-working ballplayer of high integrity throughout his career, Schalk was not even approached by the gamblers during the Black Sox Scandal of 1919 as they figured it would be a waste of their time and effort. He played to win, batting .304 during the nine-game series, and was never implicated of any wrongdoing. The magnificent portrait photo has been encapsulated and authenticated Type I by PSA/DNA.
