This ancient original photograph is an extremely rare shot of Hall of Fame hurler Christy Mathewson taking his hacks at the plate. Wearing his striking New York Giants home white uni, Matty watches one sail by with the hallowed Polo Grounds providing the perfect backdrop.

The timing, quality and clarity are on point, and it's no wonder such professional photography was done by the Brown Brothers, America's first stock photo agency formed in New York City in 1904 by Arthur and Charles Brown. Multiple Brown Brothers stamps and notations appear on the reverse. Aside from very minor chipping along the top edge, there are no condition issues to speak of. We've never seen an image of Matty batting before, so this is a great opportunity for photo collectors to capitalize.
