Pete Rose remains baseball’s all-time hits leader with 4,256 base knocks to his credit. During his illustrious, 24-year MLB career, Rose played predominately for two teams: the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies. However, late in his career, at age 43, Rose played a portion of the 1984 season with the Montreal Expos. He appeared in 95 games and collected 72 hits – including number 4,000 – as he was closing in on Ty Cobb’s longtime hits mark of 4,191.

This lot features an incredibly rare Pete Rose Montreal Expos satin warm-up jacket from the ‘84 campaign signed by the Hit King. Made of gorgeous blue satin, the thinner designed, zipper-front jacket includes a large Expos (“elb” and “expos”) logo over the left breast area, the number "14" on the left sleeve and "Rose" on the verso, all done in red, white and/or blue tackle twill. A "Wilson 44" tag is sewn on the inside rear collar and Rose has signed his name in medium Sharpie across the white portion of the “elb” logo. It shows some wear, but with limited provenance we can only attribute this jacket to being worn by Charlie Hustle in the dugout during a game. But the “Rose” NOB stitching and No. “14” that both appear to be all-original – not to mention his signature blessing – certainly make a great case for it. (Getty 459587096 shows Charlie Hustle wearing this same style, possibly this very one.)

Autograph is pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
