San Diego Rockets’ power forward/center John Block wore this road uniform set, circa 1967-70. The Rockets played in San Diego for four seasons (1967-71), so this is a very rare uniform to say the least. During the Rockets inaugural NBA season of 1967-68, Block averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds per game. He put up 15.3/9.0 and 14.5/7.4 the following seasons from which this uniform dates.

The green road jersey has “SAN DIEGO” and Block’s number “34” in gold and white tackle twill. The neck and sleeve openings are trimmed in gold and white ribbing. A Sand Knit size 44 label is sewn in the lower left front tail. The back has “BLOCK” above his number “34” in gold and white tackle twill. The jersey shows heavy use with numerous loose threads and some fraying and puckering to the tackle twill graphics. The green body shows some light snags to the fabric but no tears or holes.

The matching green trunks have white and gold stripes on its sides and a gold elastic waist band. The drawstring is still intact and a size 36 Sand Knit label is sewn inside the shorts below the waist band. The shorts show heavy game use with loose threads and overall thing throughout, particularly on the lasting waist band. A great example of a super rare uniform set worn during the Rockets short stay in San Diego. Getty 98557405 provides nice style/photo match.
