The late Mel Ott was pretty serious when it came to matters of baseball. The Hall of Fame slugger launched 511 home runs during his 22-year career which included six seasons (1942-47) of both playing for and managing the New York Giants. Despite the seriousness with which he played the game, Ott was caught smiling here by noted longtime baseball photographer George Burke. Taken sometime during the late 1930s when the Giants were visiting Chicago, the portrait style black-and-white photo shows Ott smiling in uniform and measures four inches wide by six inches tall. Ott’s near-mint autograph appears across his chest in blue ink, just above “NEW YORK.” The back of the photo includes Burke’s stamped studio address in Chicago.

Encapsulated "Authentic" by PSA/DNA. Sourced from the estate of a former MLB player whose identity will remain anonymous.
