Presented here is a wonderful Babe Ruth single-signed Pre-war era baseball courtesy of the affable American icon. As he so often did for his countless friends and fans, The Babe has personalized the ball on the left panel adjacent to the sweet spot "To Pat Manly - Babe Ruth" in strikingly bold black ink that rates 8.5/10 in our book. The well-toned and lightly shellacked Official American League (William H. Harridge) baseball with blue and red stitching dates to 1932-33 according to the Spalding Reach manufacturing stamps.
The condition of the ball is around 3-4/10 overall due mostly to the more concentrated brown-toned areas along the stitching and some isolated spot-toning, which includes two marks above the 'u' in "Ruth". The carefully coated shellac has done a tremendous job of preserving Ruth's signature as well as the ball's smooth surface; there are literally no scuffs to speak of. One of the better Ruth autographs you will find on any ball, whether single-signed or personalized, this exquisite example has never before been offered to the market as it comes from the same family (last name, Manley) of the young fan who acquired it some 85 years ago. As a bonus, the ball even comes with its original A.J. Reach OAL box, albeit in poor shape.
