Pre-dating the natty attire that earned the three-time NBA Coach of the Year nicknames such as "Coach Slick" and "Mr. GQ" is Riley's mid '70s Lakers ensemble. The yellow jersey and matching shorts exhibit marvelous vintage wear, with classic "Lakers 12" in tackle twill on the chest, and "Riley 12" on back. There is no tagging within the jersey, which is not uncommon for the "Tiernan" manufactured gamers (perhaps 30% of known Lakers jerseys from the era are untagged). The matching shorts are likewise untagged but for a number "34" swatch sewn just below the rear waistband, a number which would correspond with the jersey number of Stan Love. Whether Riley wore the shorts or not, the aesthetics of the matched pair displayed together is first rate. Although his work as a coach earned him his Hall of Fame induction, this playing days artifact is an ideal memento of a true Lakers icon.
