Circa 1860's Miller & Burlock Photographs album containing 16 pages with 32 photos slid in back to back. Of these, there are 11 men wearing Union military uniforms. We have been able to identify all but 2. They are: General Ulysses S. Grant(3 photos), General William Tecumseh Sherman, General Phil Sheridan, General George Meade, General James Birdseye McPherson, General Gouverneur Kemble Warren, and a Colonel Ellsworth. Photos vary in size but are in the 2 1/2" by 4" range. Most are actual photos with a few being prints or drawings. Photos can be removed from album without any damage. Most of the backs are blank, but a couple have photographer's studios listed - Wm. H. Welfrey, Somerset, PA. and Ino Holyland, Metropolitan Gallery, 200 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington DC. At the front of the album, along with the Union military officers, were a couple of photos of men in suits, possibly politicians? We have provided images of 3 of these along with the generals. There was also one shot of 2 men who appear to be wearing military uniforms. We have also shown a copy of that. The rest of the album is filled with 17 period photos of men, women, children, group shots, all which appear to be around the same time. We did not take these out but a couple of backs were visible and the photographers were: Alexander Cober, Mineral Point, PA. and B. Pearon? Towyn, Watchmaker, Jeweler, and Photographer. Album itself is well worn but spine still in tact but with the back leather missing. Metal clasp to keep it closed still works well. Awesome piece of history here!
