Late 1940's Chicago Cubs game worn jacket emanating from the collection of long time Cubs player and manager Charley Grimm. Grimm was manager of the Chicago Cubs, for the 2nd time, from 1944 through 1949. He led the Cubs to the National League pennant in 1945. Heavy duty, lined jacket displays tremendous game use. Large CUBS logo on left breast. Collar, cuffs, pockets, and waist band all trimmed in red. Wilson size 44 tag sewn in the collar. Number 43 tag sewn inside front left tail near zipper. Although Bill Nicholson wore number 43 from 1944 through 1948 and Hank Sauer and Harry Walker wore that number in 1949, the jacket does come directly from the family of Charlie Grimm.(Copy of newspaper article, including photo of jacket, telling of the story of how the jacket and other items were passed down through Grimm's cousin, Albert, is included) Includes SCP Letter of Provenance.
