One look at this photograph demonstrates why Marilyn Monroe remains one of the most beautiful and iconic women in history. On full display in this photograph is the care-free and effortless beauty that made Marilyn the sex symbol of the 1950s and beyond. Taken circa 1951, this photograph of a young Marilyn Monroe posing in a form-flattering swimsuit was a publicity shot for the film, “Clash by Night.” The Fritz Lang picture starred Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Ryan and became notorious when nude calendar photos of Marilyn surfaced during filming. This photo was taken by Phil Burchman, RKO’s house photographer who over the next few years would take many well-known photos of the starlet. This photo measures 7 ½ x 9 ½ has been printed to the edges in overall outstanding condition with strong corners and no issues to report. The reverse has an RKO Pictures stamp and several adhesive stains. A beautiful Type 1 photo of Marilyn Monroe from the beginning of her fame. The photograph his been encapsulated and graded Type 1 Authentic by PSA.
