The National Academy of Sports Editors presented this 20-inch high Victor Award to Bret Saberhagen as the Comeback Player of the Year in 2000, noting the extraordinary turnaround engineered by the hurler in 1998 in compiling a 15-8 mark for the Red Sox after being limited to only 26 innings the previous year because of injury. A 16-inch gold-painted figural of a an Olympic athlete sits atop an extremely heavy (nearly 10 lbs.) black marble base that extends roughly 6 inches in diameter and 4 inches high. A gold-painted nameplate that extends for the circumfrence of the marble base says in all-caps: "Victor Awards XXXIV, Baseball Comeback Player of the Year, Voted by the National Sports Media, City of Hope 2000. On the top of the marble base, Saberhagen signed his name in attractive silver Sharpie. The entire piece appears to be in as-issued and problem-free condition. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Bret Saberhagen.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
