How's this for cool: a pristine New York Mets game-worn warm-up that's so nice you can almost hear the planes taking off and landing from nearby LaGuardia. Toss in the fact that the jacket was used in Saberhagen's incredible 1994 season and you have the makings of a winner. Which of course is the basis for the extraordinary statistical anomaly from his 1994 season as he did the unthinkable and recorded more wins than walks, 14-13. That might not be a big deal if someone threw a handful of innings, but what about somebody who pitched enough to qualify for the ERA crown, ie. at least one inning for each scheduled game? We couldn't recall anyone every doing that before, so we looked it up. Saberhagen (177 innings) and somebody named Mathewson, the latter of whom somehow did it twice - and in seasons where he pitched more than 300 innings! Still, that's pretty good company and a fairly tiny club, as clubs go. This Metsie blue and orange Diamond Collection Large-sized warm-up jacket is stunning, nothing short of it. There's essentially none of the fraying around the delicate stitching of the his No. 17 or the Mets logo on the sleeves or the "Saberhagen" lettering on the back, and not a whisper of difficulty surrounding the spectacular chenille "NY" logo on the jacket front or with any of the piping. On the back below his name Saberhagen signed in silver Sharpie, adding an enthusiastic inscription "More wins than walks." Spoken ... er, written ... like a man who understands the rarity and import of the accomplishment. It's even money that Mathewson was never even aware of what he had done. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Bret Saberhagen.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
