So boasts the collective resume of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. NBA Commissioner David Stern announced the 50 Greatest Players at a press luncheon on Oct. 29, 1996, in New York City. All those chosen were gathered together for a celebration held in conjunction with the 1997 NBA All-Star Game held in Cleveland’s Gund Arena. Among the gifts received by the honorees were these custom etched crystal plates presented by Gordon & Lulie Gund. This plate, presented to Bob Cousy, features his name etched above a detailed All-Star Game logo, as well as the inscription,
“Congratulations to The 50 Greatest Players of All Time”. The rim of the plate is banded in gold, and it rests in a custom mahogany stand, which Cousy has signed. An elegant tribute to a member of an elite class of NBA legends.
