The late Bill “Moose” Skowron, the popular first baseman for the New York Yankees from 1954 to ’62, always made it a point to come back and play in the Yankees’ Old-Timers’ Day Games. This lot includes Skowron’s autographed and game-worn uniform, complete with navy blue belt and socks, from the 2008 All-Star Old-Timers’ Day Game. Held on August 2, the 62nd annual Old-Timers' Day at Yankee Stadium featured more than 70 Old-Timers, including 18 first-time Old-Timers. It was the final time that Old-Timers' Day festivities took place at the old Yankee Stadium prior to moving into the new stadium the following year. The 100% polyester Majestic Athletic Authentic Collection pinstriped jersey (size 48) includes the proper tagging for 2008 and includes the black armband on the left sleeve in memory of the passing of former Yankee great Phil Rizzuto. It also includes the special anniversary patch worn by the Yankees in 2008 that commemorated the stadium (1923-2008), as well as the All-Star patch celebrating that’s year’s Mid-Summer Classic on the right sleeve. His nameplate – “Skowron 14-48-08” – is sewn into the interior of the rear collar indicating his name, uniform number, and year and jersey size. His matching polyester pinstriped pants are included and sport his sewn-in nameplate on the rear of the interior of the waistband: “Skowron 14 08 40-42 30” indicating his name, year, and waist size and inseam length. Moose has signed in black felt-tip marker the front of the jersey, just above the Yankees “NY” logo. The signature is strong and rates a 8-9/10 in our book. He’s also added his uniform number (“#14”) as part of the signature.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Skowron Family.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
