Bill “Moose” Skowron launched a total of 211 home runs during his major league career. But one of his most memorable blasts occurred on August 8, 1965, in front of 21,165 fans at Chicago’s Comiskey Park. As the starting first baseman for the White Sox that day, Skowron stepped up to the plate against Cleveland’s Sonny Siebert and launched a solo shot that tied the game at 1-1. Though the ChiSox eventually lost the game that day, 6-4, Skowron’s moon shot marked the 200th home run of his career. This lot not only includes the official AL home run ball from that day, darkened over time and complete with black marker indicating the day’s events – “200 Home Run, Sox vs. Cleveland, 8-8-65, S. Siebert Pitcher” – but also the official MLB Milestone Certificate acknowledging Skowron’s entry into baseball’s “200 Home Run Club” with signatures from both American League President Joseph E. Cronin as well as National League President Warren Giles.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from the Skowron Family.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
