Since the inaugural 1933 Mid-Summer Classic, bat manufacturers Hillerich & Bradsby and Adirondack rewarded the best players in Major League Baseball by making them specially branded All-Star bats. By 1960, in just his fifth season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bill Mazeroski, had established himself as the best all-around 2nd baseman in the Majors.  He was elected to his third straight National League All-Star team and was issued this Adirondack professional model 113A bat for use in both All-Star games (MLB played two 1959-62).

In the first one on July 11th at Municipal Stadium, Maz had three plate appearances and went 1-for-2 with an RBI single and HBP. In the second game at Yankee Stadium, he was hitless in two at-bats. The flame-treated ash bat, measuring 35” and weighing 32.5 ounces, exhibits excellent evidence of use as compared to other ASG examples. The barrel has well over a dozen ball marks backed by visible stitch markings. Because the game was played in an A.L. city, blue Reach ball marks are present. Several bat rack marks appear on the handle, too. Model “113A” is stamped on the knob. Appropriate manufacturing attributes include the 1960 style center brand, the 1958-60 “ADIRONDACK” block letter pattern, and white lettering which would become standard for all Adirondack models in 1961.

Maz blessed this piece of lumber with his lovely autograph at a later time, as indicated by his "1960 W.S. Game Winning Homer" inscription on the barrel in 9/10 blue marker. After his double duty of All-Star appearances he won his second Gold Glove en route to that historic moment in Game 7 of the 1960 Fall Classic against the Yankees. His World Series clinching walk-off homer was the first in MLB history until Joe Carter did it in 1993 for Toronto.

Includes LOA from PSA/DNA graded GU 8 and LOA from MEARS with A10 grade. Additional LOA's from JSA and PSA/DNA for autograph.
