This vintage store-model Babe Ruth bat, signed by the Yankee legend near the close of his fabled career, was originally presented to a St. Louis area youth as a contest prize in 1933. Turned by Hillerich & Bradsby for retail sale, this classic piece of white ash lumber appears unused and uncracked. As was customary, the bat was prepared for the addition of the Babe's signature by the removal of a 1" by 4" area of the walnut brown finish just to the right of the factory center brand. The Bambino graced the barrel's surface with an over-sized example of his autograph in black ink. Rating 8/10, the signature lacks all of the common problems associated with signed bats such as pen skips, bleeding and contrast issues. There are a few scattered, unobtrusive nicks about the length of the bat, most of which are visible only upon close inspection. Preserved in outstanding EX-MT to Near Mint condition. This bat was last sold by SCP Auctions in our December, 2004 auction for $25,300.

Includes a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
