1912 Fenway Park Grand Opening Day Panoramic Photograph In this original sepia-toned panoramic image from the 1912 opening day game at Fenway Park, the Boston Red Sox and New York Highlanders (who would later become the Yankees) appear lined up in one long row on the field in front of the newly constructed box seats. Printed across the bottom is the title "Opening Game American League - Fenway Park - April 20, 1912 - Boston vs. New York." There are many notable players in this photo including: Tris Speaker, Ed Cicotte, Joe Wood, Harry Hooper and Hal Chase. A highly amusing feature of this panorama is the appearance of Tris Speaker and Joe Wood twice. The two teams were posed shoulder to shoulder, required to stand perfectly still. As the camera panned the row of players, the shutter speed was such that once the lens passed the mischievous twosome, they were able to run around behind it to the other side and be pictured again amidst the opposition. The panorama is in excellent condition with only minor creases and light foxing. A couple of small pen marks along the bottom of the panorama can be removed and do not compromise the integrity of the image. Framed dimensions; 43-3/4” by 6-1/4”.
