Few human beings can lay claim to having walked on the moon, but every single signature on the baseball in this lot belongs to 10 of the 12 people who have done just that! This official American League (Budig) baseball has been signed in various shades of blue ink by the following lineup of Apollo astronauts (some have added special inscriptions next to their names): Gene Cernan (“Apollo XVII CDR”); Alan Bean (“Apollo 12 LMP”); Edgar Mitchell (“Apollo 14”); Dave Scott (“Apollo 15 Commander”); Charles Duke (“Apollo 11 LMP”); Alan Shepard; Buzz Aldrin; John Young; Harrison Schmitt; and Charles Conrad on the sweet spot. Duke was the only astronaut to sign the baseball in black ink. NOTE: “CDR” stands for Commander, while the “LMP” designation stands for Lunar Module Pilot. Every signature appears strong and rates 8-9/10. The lot includes three different 8" x 10" color photos showing David Scott, Edgar Mitchell and Gene Cernan signing the ball. An incredible keepsake in its own right, this baseball holds a great deal of American aeronautical history between its seams.
