Derek Jeter, who retired from Major League Baseball in 2014, was the longtime Team Captain of the New York Yankees who set the club record for career hits with 3,465. Throughout his 20 seasons, Jeter played in a total of 2,747 games and batted a career .310. His entrance into Cooperstown is all but assured. This lot features a Derek Jeter autographed, game-used third base bag from Yankee Stadium following the second game of a double-header between the host Yankees and the visiting Tampa Bay Devil Rays on July 21, 2007. In that game in which the Yankees prevailed 17-5, Jeter went 2-for-5 and scored a run. According to the accompanying MLB Authentication certificate, this particular base was used during the sixth through ninth innings of the game.

Plenty of infield dirt still resides on the Schutt Sports-manufactured base which shows good game use. Jeter autographed the top of the base in black marker exactly five months later on Dec. 21, 2007, during a private signing with Steiner Sports Collectibles. Two sides of the base reflect New York Yankee alongside the Yankee logo, while the two remaining sides of the base boast the official red, white and blue MLB logo alongside the slogan “I LIVE FOR THIS.”

Includes LOA from Steiner Collectibles as well as MLB Authentication certificate and hologram number BB477881. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
