Presented here is a July 10, 1955, scorecard for a matchup between the eventual AL Champion New York Yankees and the Washington Senators at Griffith Stadium. The teams played a doubleheader that day, with the home team taking Game 1 and the visitors getting the split in Game 2. Mickey Mantle went deep twice in the first game, both off Dean Stone, for numbers 19 and 20 on the season. Then, in the second game, he homered off Senators starter Ted Abernathy for his third dinger of the day.
The scorecard has been signed by The Mick, fellow Hall of Famers Whitey Ford and Phil Rizzuto, and Bob Turley, Bill Skowron and the Yankees' longtime traveling secretary Bill McCorry on main inside page in strong 9/10 blue ballpoint. The large Mantle autograph, a rare example from the period, displays beautifully. Having been scored by a spectator that day, the scorecard still remains in great condition overall with some slight toning on the interior. Accompanied by a full LOA from PSA/DNA for the autographs.
