On May 9, 2017, the Houston Astros hosted the Atlanta Braves and immediately jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Shortstop Carlos Correa was a big reason why. With two on and nobody out, the Puerto Rican superstar stepped to the plate and promptly deposited a Bartolo Colon fastball over the centerfield wall to put his team up, 3-0. Houston went on to win by the score of 8-3, one of 101 victories in the regular season en route to the franchise’s first World Series title. The 2015 A.L. Rookie of the Year earned his first All-Star nod, batting .315 with 24 homers and 84 RBI despite missing over 50 games due to a torn thumb ligament. This lot features Correa’s Astros home jersey from that interleague game in May during which his hot bat earned him A.L. Player of the Month.

The white button-down jersey reads “ASTROS” across the chest in navy blue on orange tackle twill. His uniform number “1” is sewn on the front and back in the same navy blue and orange fashion, while orange piping runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons. The back of the jersey shows “CORREA” sewn across the shoulder blades in navy blue and orange tackle twill, along with a vinyl MLB logo patch sewn on in blue, white and orange. The left sleeve has a circular “HOUSTON ASTROS” logo patch sewn above the navy blue embroidered Majestic logo. Each sleeve also has orange piping about an inch off the end. The sides and tails of the jersey have a matching white mesh material and the Majestic tag is screen-printed on the bottom front left tail, along with an additional screen-printed Majestic bar code tag on the lower front right tail below the buttons that read “2017 PROP. OF HOUSTON 48TC - 1.5 S ASTROS.” This jersey shows incredible game use with caked on dirt stains and comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram to document its use by Correa during the May 9th home contest. The dirt stains were obviously inflicted after his 1st inning homer, most likely on a defensive dive at short. The fact that this dirt-caked jersey was worn during Houston’s first ever championship season makes it all the more desirable.

Includes MLB Authentication (hologram # JC 066727).
