In 2014, 22-year-old Mike Trout of the L.A. Angels of Anaheim turned in a remarkable batting campaign, one in which he hit .287, smacked 36 home runs, scored 111 runs and collected 113 runs batted in. It was a season to remember and Trout collected the first of his two (and counting) American League MVP awards. This lot features a game-used and autographed bat from Trout’s awe-inspiring season.

Measuring 33.5 inches long, the two-tone (black and natural) Mike Trout Old Hickory maple bat (model number MT27*) exhibits outstanding evidence of outstanding use with a handle crack that has been repaired. Multiple ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the right, left and back barrel. Ball marks across the barrel include blue ink transfers and cleat marks can be seen on the front and right barrel. The lower handle and knob have been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip. The bat reflects a moderate coat of pine tar on the upper handle and a light coat of Mota Stick on the lower handle.

According to an accompanying letter of authenticity from MLB, the bat was used by Trout on May 30th against the Oakland A’s and pitcher Drew Pomeranz. Trout went 2-for-5 that day including a solo home run, although the Angels dropped a 9-5 decision. He broke this bat in the top of the 1st inning, so he used a different bat to hit his home run in the 4th inning off Pomeranz. The superstar slugger has signed the barrel of the bat in silver marker and added the inscription "'14 G/U MVP."

Includes Letter of Grading from PSA/DNA, which grades the bat GU 9.5. Also includes MLB Authentication (hologram #EK 817655) as well as LOA from Anderson Authentics, which Mike Trout has signed.
