ADDENDUM: Heading and starting bid updated from catalog.

When Houston went up 3-Games-to-1 on Golden State in the 2018 Western Conference Finals, things looked very promising for the Rockets to make their first NBA Finals since the days of Hakeem and "Clutch City" in the mid-1990's. But alas, as fate would have it, point guard Chris Paul got injured and the vaunted Warriors came storming back with three straight wins to take the series. Game 7 on May 28, 2018, will haunt Houston fans forever. Playing in front of their home crowd at the Toyota Center, the Rockets had one of the most dismal shooting nights in NBA history, going 7-for-44 from 3-point range (compared with the Dubs' 16-for-39 effort) to sink their chance of advancing. There were many goats that night for the Rockets. James Harden went 2-for-13 and Eric Gordon was 2-for-12, but Trevor Ariza got the doughnut award from deep with an 0-for-9 performance. He was 0-for 12 overall with 0 points in 41 minutes of action. Now that's hard to do. Ariza's forgettable night on the floor came wearing this very jersey, which has been professionally photo-matched by the experts at Resolution Photomatching. As the market does attest, infamous pieces like this can be in strong demand and can surprise us all at auction.

The black alternate jersey has "HOUSTON" sewn on the chest in white on red tackle twill, with Ariza's number “1” below in white. A gray Nike Swoosh is sewn on the right chest. On the right shoulder strap is the green and yellow "Santa Fe HS“ ribbon armband added to Rockets jerseys before Game 5 of the Conference Finals vs. Golden State in honor of the victims from the local school shooting tragedy. Houston only wore these special armbands for the series' final three games. "ARIZA” is arched across the back in white tackle twill with a larger number "1” also in white. An NBA logo patch is applied to the back outside collar of the jersey below a gold “2” patch in reference to franchise's only two NBA titles (1994 & '95). The sides of this jersey have dark gray accents, and a microphone pocket is sewn inside the left side panel. On the front left tail is the Nike m,anufacturer's tagging with size “50” and “Length +4” flag tag and coded NBA Authentics tag. The jersey shows appropriate game use with some fraying and pilling to the fabric. Includes LOA from Resolution Photomatching.
