These Everlast gloves were worn by Muhammad Ali in his bout on April 30, 1976 against Jimmy Young, a 15-round unanimous decision in Landover, Maryland, that pushed Ali's career record to 51-2. The red Everlast gloves are in fine condition with the iconic “Everlast” oversize tags on each wrist, with the slightest bit of fraying of the fabric on the left tag. The imprinting in white on underside of the fingers on each glove “21086” is clearly visible. The gloves show appropriate fight wear with very little fraying of the intricate white stitching on the red leather. Inside each glove is a black marker cursive notation "For Ali, WM 76. Ali-Young" and a ballpoint printed notation "Ali-Young." This notation was applied to each glove by the state boxing commissioner as part of his pre-fight inspection establishing that the gloves are legal for the bout. Gloves come with a Letter of Authenticity from MEARS. According to MEARS these gloves were originally introduced into the hobby by a man named Eddie Brown. Brown acquired them directly from his close friend Drew "Bundini" Brown, Muhammad Ali’s former trainer and cornerman.
