MLB slugger Gary Sheffield finished his major league playing days in 2009 with 509 career home runs. This lot includes one of Sheffield’s game-used black Louisville Slugger professional model bats that he inscribed from the 1994 season in which he launched 27 homers for the Florida Marlins. The 35” Gary Sheffield C271 model bat shows ample game usage with contact marks on the barrel and worn tape on the handle. The knob of the bat includes in silver marker Sheffield’s uniform number (“10”) and the bat model number (“C271”). This particular bat was used to hit Sheffield’s sixth home run of the young ’94 season on April 25th at Joe Robbie Stadium against starting pitcher Tom Glavine and the Atlanta Braves. It turned out to be a 4-3 Marlins’ victory, thanks in part to Sheffield's first inning, two-run bomb, and Sheffield inscribed on the barrel of the bat in thin silver marker the following inscription: “Home Run #6 off Tom Glavine 4/25/94 Gary Sheffield #10.”

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
