Featured here is a striking 2017 FIFA Club World Cup gold winner's medal issed to a member of the back-to-back tournament champions, Real Madrid F.C.  Hosted in the United Arab Emirates, the 14th edition of this FIFA-run tournament was played December 6-16, 2017, bringing together the winners of the six continental confederations plus the host nation's league champions. Real Madrid defeated Grêmio (2017 Copa Libertadores Champion from Brazil) 1-0 in the final thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo goal in the 52nd minute. (Real midfielder Luka Modric was named Best Player.) In doing so, Los Galacticos became the first club to defend the title since in the tournament's history, making this medal even more significant. (Real would make it three straight titles, and four out of five, in 2018.)

The obverse has an elevated club world cup trophy flanked by "WORLD CHAMPION." Around the perimeter in raised lettering is "FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP" along the top and "UAE 2017" along the bottom. The reverse reveals an elevated "FIFA". A lovely blue FIFA-branded ribbon attached to a loop allowed the recipient to wear it proudly and makes the award that much more impressive looking. Weight of the medal is 60 grams (65 g incl. ribbon), diameter is 50 mm, and thickness is 4 mm. Appears to be made of gold-plated silver. The shiny medal has a little nick on the front left rim/edge area; otherwise it remains in terrific shape with hardly any surface wear. A truly worthy addition to any premium football collection.
