The only remaining "Original Nat" from Washington's re-entry into Major League Baseball is Ryan Zimmerman. Drafted fourth overall in 2005 out of UVA, the 6' 3" slugger played third base for ten solid MLB seasons before recently moving to first base. Runner up in the 2006 National League Rookie of the Year voting, Zimmerman has been a staple in the middle of the order ever since, producing consistent power numbers for the Nationals. After a few injury-plagued seasons, he found his stroke again in 2017 with a career-high 36 long balls while batting .303 and knocking in 108 runs for the N.L. East division winners. In fact, he became the franchise leader in home runs (251) and RBI (937) as it stands now. His tie-breaking 3-run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning of NLDS Game 2 against the Cubs will long be remembered by Nats fans.
Offered here is Zimmerman’s 2016 Washington Nationals postseason game-worn jersey that he donned in Games 1, 2 and 5 of the N.L. Divisional Series against the L.A. Dodgers. Despite bowing out in five games, Zim batted .353 with two doubles and two RBI in the series. The offered Majestic Authentic Collection jersey (size 48) includes proper manufacturer’s tagging on the left front tail. Showing moderate wear, the jersey sports a “W” in red tackle twill script outlined in navy blue across the left chest as well as his uniform number ”11” in similar tackle twill fashion on the right chest. The Washington National embroidered patch adorns the left sleeve and the official red, white and blue vinyl MLB patch is located on the outside rear collar. A special vinyl “2016 MLB POSTSEASON” patch adorns the right sleeve. His last name – “ZIMMERMAN” – appears arched across the shoulders in red tackle twill outlined in blue, positioned above his uniform number “11,” which measures eight inches tall. All six original buttons down the front of the jersey remain intact.
