Noah Syndergaard, the New York Mets hard-throwing right-hander, registered 14 victories during the 2016 MLB campaign. His efforts included fanning 218 batters while recording a 2.60 ERA. This lot features Syndergaard’s signed, inscribed and game worn New York Mets batting helmet that he wore during a postseason, wild-card loss to the San Francisco Giants.

On Oct. 5, 2016, the Mets hosted the Giants in a one-game Wild-Card battle that pitched two power pitchers going head-to-head: Syndergaard and Madison Bumgarner. Syndergaard actually outdueled Bumgarner through the seven innings he pitched, recording 10 strikeouts and yielding just two hits to Mad Baum’s six K’s and four hits, but left after the seventh inning with the game still scoreless. The Giants eventually won the game, 3-0, as Conor Gillaspie blasted a three-run homer off reliever Jeurys Familia in the top of the ninth inning to provide the difference. Syndergaard, meanwhile, registered two at-bats early in the game sporting this helmet and struck out both times.

The Mets blue batting helmet, built for the lefty-swinging Syndergaard, includes the “NY” orange decal logo on the front with an orange button on top. Showing ample wear with multiple scuff marks throughout, the black-padded Rawlings S100 Pro Comp model (size 7 ¾) includes “734” on the inside dome in silver marker. His orange uniform number "34" decal can be found centered on the reverse side of the helmet, positioned right above the official "2016 MLB Postseason" decal. Syndergaard signed the bill of the helmet in silver marker and inscribed it: “2016 Wildcard Game used 10-5-16.”
