St. Louis Cardinals' star catcher Yadier Molina was on his way to winning his seventh of eight consecutive Gold Glove Awards when he wore this Cardinals batting helmet. The experts at Resolution Photomatching have matched this helmet to the May 18, 2014, game against the Braves at Busch Stadium. Molina went 2-for-5 and scored a run in the 6-5 loss to Atlanta. Though it has been matched to the May 18 game, the helmet exhibits use that far exceeds a single game and must have been worn for a significant portion of the 2014 season. There are many scuffs and abrasions on the shell with a large crack on the crown. A moderate dose of Mota Stick smothers the forehead section to allow for a conclusive photo-match. Molina’s number “4” sticker is affixed to the rear of the shell above an MLB logo sticker. The interior padding shows heavy wear, with the proper Rawlings and Majestic labels and a 7 3/8 size tag. A “#4” has been hand written on the right interior ear pad in silver pen.

The youngest and mot talented of the Molina trio of catching brothers, Yadier is well on his way to enrshrinment in Cooperstown after yet another outstanding campaign in 2017. At the age of 35, he had one of his best offensive seasons, batting .273 with 18 home runs and a career-high 82 RBI to earn his eight All-Star appearance.

Includes LOA from Resolution Photo-matching with side-by-side match to 5/18/14 game.
