ADDENDUM: CATALOG HEADING UPDATED AND NEW PHOTO EVIDENCE FOUND. TWO WHITE CONTACT MARKS (ONE CURVED AND ONE STRAIGHT) ON THE LEFT SHOULDER AND A PATTERN OF WHITE AND NAVY BLUE MARKINGS ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER HAVE HAVE BEEN PHOTO-MATCHED TO THE 75TH IRON BOWL PLAYED NOVEMBER 26, 2010 IN TUSCALOOSA. THE TWO CONCLUSIVE GAME PHOTOS FROM GETTY (107160412, 112811160) WERE TAKEN EARLY IN THE CONTEST BEFORE THE JERSEY PICKED UP THE OTHER CONTACT MARKS, PAINT TRANSFERS AND GRASS STAINS ON THE FRONT JERSEY NUMBERS.

The 2010 University of Alabama football team finished No. 10 in the polls with a 10-3 overall record. The Crimson Tide’s returning Heisman Trophy winning junior running back Mark Ingram (the first Heisman winner in Alabama’s storied history) posted another great season that year by rushing for 903 yards and scoring 13 touchdowns. The jersey in this lot came right off Ingram’s back following the #9 ranked Crimson Tide’s 28-27 loss to rival Auburn in the 75th Iron Bowl on November 26, 2010. In the game, Ingram had 36 yards rushing with a 1st quarter TD as well as 4 catches for 91 yards.

Newport Sports Museum owner John Hamilton says he obtained the jersey through his brother-in-law, who happens to be an Alabama graduate and booster with great connections. "He actually has a private box at the [Bryant-Denny] stadium right next to the Alabama President," explains Hamilton, "and so I asked him if he could get me a jersey from Ingram. He relays my request to the university president, and that we didn't want it washed, then the next thing I know this jersey is delivered to me!"

The jersey features a white Nike swoosh on the front left chest and the Alabama sewn-on logo on the collar as well as an “SEC” patch on the right front chest. His nameplate “INGRAM” is sewn-on the back in bold white letters and his iconic No. 22 graces both the front and back of the jersey in white tackle twill fashion. The jersey is pounded with white and navy blue contact/paint marks from Auburn defensive players covering the left and right shoulders, and red paint tranfers on the front and back numbers. There are bright green grass stains on the back numbers as well. According to the caption from Getty image 107160412, Ingram is rushing for a 9-yard touchdown - his only score of the game which occurred with 11:34 remaining in the 1st quarter. The other Getty image (112811160) shows Ingram fumbling early in the 2nd quarter after a 41-yard catch-and-run, ended in a touchback for Auburn. This was the last time Ingram wore a Crimson Tide home red gamer in his storied career (Alabama wore their road whites in the Capital One Bowl vs. Michigan State). What a special gamer from one of college football’s all-time great running backs!
