The Yankees defeated the Phillies, four games to two, to win the franchise's 27th World Series championship in 2009, thereby earning this imposing bit of jewelry for their efforts, a diamond-laddened behemoth of a ring that was awarded to a Yankees front-office staffer.

The 2009 World Series ring is 14K white gold and has “Gurtov” on one shank above the Yankees logo; directly beneath that is the engraved "Tradition." On the opposite shank is “WORLD CHAMPIONS 2009 UNITY” surrounding the engraved representation of the New Yankee Stadium. Inside the ring on one side is the markings “YANKEE STADIUM INAUGURAL SEASON 2009 “ with the inaugural season logo. Marked on the other side of the ring is “Balfour © 14K." The top features a Yankee blue stone accented by a diamond clustered NY logo rising from a diamond-lined base path. The face of the ring is a synthetic blue stone with the diamond-clustered NY logo over it. There are four larger stones representing infield bases and home plate. The ring is made of 14K white gold and has 2.5 carat weight of real diamonds. In all, there are 95 diamonds, giving the Size 11 ring a total weight of 49.7 grams. Comes in 4-inch-square polished red wood Yankee presentation box with white leather pillow and silk interior. All elements of the ring and accompanying display box appear to be as-issued and problem free.
