Albert Pujols opened the book on 2008 by reaching base in 42 straight games, then reached the 300 home run plateau in July. In September he recorded his 100th RBI of the season, making him only the third player in the history of the game to hit 100 or more RBI in his first eight MLB seasons. Pujols finished with a .357 batting average, 37 homers and 116 RBI to take home his second N.L. MVP Award. For his charitable contributions off the field he also received the Roberto Clemente Humanitarian Award. All this was done while in constant pain in his right elbow, and he capped off 2008 by having nerve surgery to alleviate the discomfort.

This offered grey road jersey from his MVP campaign has the two cardinals perched on a bat logo with “Cardinals” in red, navy and yellow chain-stitching. Pujols’ number “5” is below in red and navy tackle twill. A Majestic label is sewn in the lower left front tail with a size “52” hang tag affixed. The back has “PUJOLS” arched above his number “5” in navy and red tackle twill. The jersey exhibits light to moderate game use with some light turf and perspiration staining. There are some loose threads on the tackle twill and some light puckering on the tackle twill. A choice gamer from Pujols’ 2nd of three MVP seasons. His 100-RBI streak would finally end in 2011 (his final in St. Louis) after ten straight seasons when he fell just one short with 99. Only two other seasons has he failed to drive in 100+ runs. Simply amazing.

Includes COA from Kerry Wood Strike Zone foundation signed by Wood. Additional LOA from Rob Steinmetz of Authentic Gamers, who purchased the jersey from a Kerry Wood Strike Zone event.
