Featured here is a 2006 Torino Winter Olympics torch used in the
flame relay from Olympia, Greece, to the host city in the Italian Alps. Designed by Pininfarina of Torino, the unique look is intended to
resemble the front of a ski as well as the Mole Antonelliana building
in Turin. It is certainly a modern interpretation of the traditional
wooden torch. Made of blue, techno-polymer-coated aluminum, it is curved
to a length of 34.5 inches (88 cm) and weighs over 4 lbs. Stamped on
the shaft is "torino 2006" with the logo from these Games and the five
rings. The flame area with 13 holes circular holes for the burning
Olympic Fire shows obvious darkened signs of being lit. A number "177"
sticker is located on the bottom of the handle. There are several scratch marks and some dings to the blue metallic exterior, yet all structural elements are perfectly intact.
In addition, this eye-catching torch comes with a custom Acrylic display stand (16" tall and 6.75" wide) intricately etched with a skier in the Italian Alps, the 2006 Winter Olympics logo and "XX GIOCHI OLIMPICI INVERNALI" as well as the message "Passion Lives here."
